On my desk, I have multiple devices that use HDMI, my monitor however only has 1 HDMI port. This means that I either need an easy solution to switch between my devices or I have to manually unplug and plugin in the device I want to use.

The Switch is powered by a micro-USB cable which is a little dated but it works fine as long as you’re not moving it around constantly. As the name suggests there are 5 HDMI ports, Optical and 3.5mm audio out and of course the HDMI out that we expect to see. I use this with my laptop, switch, Xbox, work laptop and my mini PC and it works perfectly so I don’t have to spend time unplugging and replugging in my devices. On the front of the switch, you have the IR Reciever for the remote, a LED for the HDMI out, 5 LEDs to show which input you have selected, a LED to show that there is power, and a button for manual input selection if you can’t locate the remote.

Using the remote that you get with the switch, allows you to choose between the 5 HDMI inputs also 3 different Audio outputs, I use mine with a 5.1 surround sound and I honestly can’t hear the difference between the 3 profiles. The remote is basic but functional, but that’s a good thing as you don’t need it to do anything else.

The listing claims that it outputs up to 4k and 3D, I can test that as I don’t have a display in my house that supports these display types however the output is quite clear and crisp.

The switch does have a secondary function where it pulls the audio from your selected device and outputs it to an audio device via an Optical or 3.5mm jack again the audio is quite clear and crisp. When you plug into the audio jack you still keep the audio going out to the optical port which means that you don’t need to unplug your headphones when you don’t need them, additionally, it also outputs the audio to the display that you use so you have 3 ways of listening to your chosen device.

I’ve been using this for a while and if you have multiple devices that you want to be plugged into your TV, or monitor then I would definitely recommend this to you. I paid £26.99 for this and I think it was money well spent.
